While functional fitness might seem like a new term, the concept has been around for quite some time. Functional fitness is simply the combining of different muscle groups to perform movements that can carry over into our everyday tasks, thus helping to avoid injury. For example, the squat is designed to mimic the act of sitting and standing. This particular movement, with an emphasis on a straight back and tight core, is also beneficial for use in lifting heavy things in a safe and healthy way.

Here at Iron Forged Fitness, each functional movement should help build strength, flexibility, and stamina throughout the body while keeping an emphasis on power and stability in the core. As functional fitness has grown in popularity over the years and is currently one of the most popular and widely used forms of exercise in America, we know the value of offering it to our members. Check out what we’ve got to offer!

Muscle Driver Stag Racks

Our stag racks are strong, functional, and versatile. Use them for pull-ups, muscle ups, Knee-to-elbows, and more. You can choose to use our stag racks with banded assistance, with your bodyweight only, or with weight added. Additionally, use this versatile equipment for any of the following:

  • Back squats
  • Front squats
  • Weighted lunges
  • Calf raises
  • Hang cleans
  • Dips

Plyo boxes

IFF offers a variety of plyo boxes for versatile training in strength and stability in the upper body, lower body, or both. You can use our plyo boxes for:

  • Box jumps or box jump combinations
  • Weighted or unweighted step-ups
  • Scaled handstands
  • Scaled wall push-ups
  • Bulgarian split squats
  • Elevated knee touches

Concept 2 Rowers

Wanting to get a great full-body cardio workout? Using our concept 2 rower is a great way to achieve that. Our rowers work your upper and lower body at the same time with the perfect amount of resistance set to your cardio standards. On top of all of these perks, you’re building endurance by incorporating low-impact movements that won’t agitate a weak ankle or previous injury. Use the rower for HIIT cardio to spike your heart rate, for extended interval cardio training, or for steady-state cardio training.

Competition Kettle Bells

Our competition kettlebells are perfect for getting the right weight for you. Use these kettlebells for a variety of movement at a variety of weight options that can work your entire body. Though this is far from an exhaustive list, our competition kettlebells are perfect to use for:

  • Kettlebell swings
  • Squats
  • Lunges
  • Deadlifts
  • Upright rows
  • Russian twists
  • Weighted leg raises

Pendlay Bars

Iron Forged Fitness offers you a variety of pendlay bars to help you achieve your fitness goals. Our barbells are top of the line and offer you countless options for weighted exercises in a safe and encouraging atmosphere. Whether you’re loading your barbell up with hundreds of pounds or keeping it free of any extra weight, you can be sure that we have the best quality barbells for your workout.

Bumper Plates

Are you looking for convenient and user-friendly places to lift the perfect amount of weight with every rep? At IFF, our bumper plates offer you the ability to gradually add weight or take it off as you need. Doing some drop sets? We have everything you need to be able to do that with ease. Trying to find your one-rep-max weight? Our bumper plates will make each weight adjustment, no matter how gradual, incredibly convenient for you. We’ve gone the extra mile to do everything we can to give you a great lifting experience; the only thing we can’t do is lift it for you!

Climbing Rope, Battle Ropes, and Tires

For an upper body workout, consider trying our climbing rope or battle ropes. Strategic anchoring of our rope will ensure that you are safe and supported when you attempt your climb. By engaging your shoulders and arms, our climbing rope will seriously challenge the functional fitness of your upper body.

Adversely, while using a completely separate set of muscles, our battle ropes and tires will also engage your shoulders and arms. Think of work with a battle rope in the same way that you would think of a front shoulder raise that incorporates your entire arm, including your forearm.
Additionally, tire flipping places a strong emphasis on bicep strength while also engaging your legs and back.

Using functional fitness in your workout regimen can be extremely beneficial to your health and lifestyle. Whether you incorporate it to break up the tedium of your daily lifting, or you use it as your main form of exercise, functional fitness is one of the best ways to build strength and endurance over your whole body.
