Your Choice For a Local Gym in Jacksonville

Hello there, and welcome back to our blog! In the world of physical fitness, it can be difficult to choose a gym that fits your personal needs. While there are no shortages of gyms across the country, like most things in life, one size does not fit all. Here at Iron Forged Fitness, we understand that people have unique needs when it comes to their personal fitness goals. Because of this, we have made it our mission to provide people with a gym experience that is centered around helping them meet their goals. While we would assume that this is the goal of every gym, we feel that as a local gym we are able to provide this atmosphere better than the big box gyms that have infiltrated most areas of the country. In today’s post, to help prove our point, we are going to list out some of the reasons that we feel a local gym is a better environment for reaching individual fitness goals than gyms with hundreds or thousands of members. Bigger Isn’t Always Better

When it comes to joining a gym, one of the first decisions that a person has to make is whether they are going to join a small, local gym or a gym that is part of a national corporation. At first glance, it may appear that the national gyms are a better choice. They tend to have a lot of equipment, excellent amenities, and multiple locations that may make them seem like the most attractive option. However, when you take some time to think about what you really want out of a gym, the smaller gym may be the better option. Below, we have listed a few of the reasons that we feel local gyms are better able to meet the needs of their members.

  • Personalized Workout Plans: For the most part, national gyms take a one-size-fits-all approach to workout plans. This makes sense considering they are trying to deliver results to the maximum number of people but, on an individual level, this approach to fitness is not always the best. When you chose a local gym over a national gym, you are much more likely to get individual attention. Personal trainers at small gyms take the time to develop fitness plans that are geared toward providing an individual with the results that they need.
  • Less Stress: National gyms take direction from a corporate office that is usually nowhere near the gyms physical location. This means that decisions could be made on a corporate level that negatively affect your experience at the gym. Perhaps a Wednesday night spin class that fits perfectly into your schedule isn’t making enough money so the national office decides to switch it to Thursday nights. This can throw a wrench in an individual’s plan that, unfortunately, the main office doesn’t really care about. Additionally, national gyms tend to attract a large section of the population. Inevitably, this means that an individual is going to come across people who spend a lot of time in the gym and may not be the most pleasant person to interact with. If you’ve frequented a gym, you have most likely come across that person that takes up a machine for too long, stares down other gym members, and makes a big fuss when lifting weights. While we aren’t saying these people are totally absent from local gyms, the likelihood that you’ll run into them is much lower.
  • Personal Relationships: One of the best parts about joining a local gym is that you begin to develop relationships with the other members. Local gyms make a conscious effort to build a sense of community within their walls. This helps to increase accountability among members because people become familiar with others who work out at the same time as them. As most people already know, a little accountability can go a long way in making sure that a person does not give up on their fitness goals.
